Dear TTC Board Chair and Commissioners,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On behalf of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers members in Canada, I am writing to express my full support for the nearly 12,000 TTC workers, represented by ATU Local 113, who are currently bargaining a new collective agreement with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Like most people in Toronto, our members rely on the TTC to get to and from work, to get their kids to school, and to travel around the city. We back the workers\u2019 demands for a safe, reliable, and accessible TTC for everyone in Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That means good jobs, wages that keep up with inflation, appropriate staffing levels, and proper funding that keeps the TTC in public hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TTC workers kept Toronto moving throughout the pandemic and ensured that frontline workers in other workplaces could get to and from work, despite the risks they all faced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s long past due that TTC workers get the respect they deserve and a collective agreement that lets them pay the bills and keeps our city moving safely and reliably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our union is strongly urging you to reach a settlement with TTC workers ahead of Friday\u2019s strike deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the event you don\u2019t reach a settlement, and a strike proceeds, you can expect that workers from across the city, including our own members, will be supporting TTC workers in whatever ways they can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Workers and riders alike will be better off if TTC workers get a fair deal. The ball is in your court to help make that happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
